Theory of Evolution by Natural Selection

| evolution | the process by which populations change over time |
| artificial selection | the process by which humans select plants or animals for breeding based on desired traits |
| natural selection | the process by which organisms that inherit certain traits will reproduce more successfully |
| variation | natural differences in traits between the same species |
| mutation | created due to a change in genetic material |
| adaptation | an inherited trait that helps an organism survive and reproduce in its environment |
| extinction | occurs when all members of a species have died |
| camouflage | when a plant or animals blends into the environment to hide |
| species | a group of individual organisms that can reproduce offspring that have offspring |
