Define osmosis The diffusion of WATER
what is the job of the cell membrane? to control what goes in and out of the cell
define selectively permeable the cell membrane is selectively permeable which means it only allows certain materials to pass through
define diffusion The movement of molecules from high concentration to low concentration(more crowded to less crowded)
Passive transport no energy needed (Ex: riding a bike down hill)
define photosynthesis when green plants use chlorophyll to trap the sun's energy and convert it into chemical energy
Reactants of photosynthesis Carbon dioxide and water
Reactants of respiration Glucose and oxygen go in and with energy (ATP)
meiosis Cell division of gametes. Daughter cells receive half chromosomes from one parent and half from the other parent.
mitosis Cell division of somatic (body) cells. Daughter cells are identical copy of mother cell.
products of respiration Carbon dioxide and water
products of photosynthesis Glucose and H2O
active transport transport where energy IS needed (Ex: riding a bike up hill)
