Heterotrophic Organisms that must ingest materials and break down nutrients.
Transport Useable material taken into an organism and distributed throughout (circulation)
Respiration Organisms obtain energy in nutrients (ATP)
Aerobic Requires oxygen
Anerobic No oxygen needed, much less energy
Synthesis Combine simple substances and use to replace or repair parts.
Growth Increase in size or cell number
Excretion Rid cell of metabolic waste as a result of chemical activity (sweat)
Regulation Control and coordinate cell activity
Reproduction Make more, procreate, increase number of species
Sexual reproduction Two parents, Union of special sex cells, increases species variation
Metabolism All chemical reactions that occur within a cell
Homeostasis Maintenence of a stable internal environment. (body temperature, water concentration)
