Genetic Material

Vocabulary

TermDefinition
Cell The smallest unit of life that can reproduce. Sometimes called the building blocks of life.
Chromosome Threadlike structures that contain genes and DNA. They are found in the nucleus.
Nucleus Cell organelle that contains the chromosomes and DNA.
Gene Contains genetic material and used to determine characteristics in the offspring.
DNA The genetic material found in the nucleus of cells.
Genetics The study of heredity.
Heredity The passing down of traits from parent to offspring.
Offspring Children.
