Why is susceptibility testing not performed on Campylobacter jejuni infections? Most patients will recover without antimicrobial therapy
What does campylobacter look like on gram stain? Agar? Gram Stain: curved, S-shaped, gull wing GNR Agar: Flat, gray, irregular shaped coloines or round, convex, glistening edges
What are some tests used to identify campylobacter? Oxidase (+), darting motility, catalase(+), nitrate (+), growth at 42*C, no growth at 37*C. the different temps help to differentiate Campylobacter form Pseudomonas species
