inference a conclusion based on observation or evidence
hypothesis an untested prediction
theory a broad explanation of natural events supported by evidence
controlled experiment it compares the results of an experiment between two or more groups
experimental group the group being tested or given the drug or treatment
control group the "normal group" that does not receive the drug or treatment
placebo a sugar pill or fake treatment
interdependent variable variable that is being tested...the new drug
dependent variable variable that is measured at the end of an experiment
