TermDefinition
predator An animal that hunts another animal
prey An animal that is hunter by another animal
producers They make their own food for energy
consumers Consumers are organisms that cannot make their own food
decomposers They get their energy by breaking down wastes and dead organisms.
herbivores These animals only eat plants.
carnivores These animals only eat meat.
omnivores These animals eat both plants and meat.
scavengers They eat already dead animals. But they eat meat just like a carnivore.
food chain This is a series of steps by which energy moves from one living thing to another.
food web this is a diagram that combines different food chain into one picture.
Parasite is an organism that lives on or inside of another organism
Symbiosis A long term relationship between two different organisms.
Ecosystem all the living and nonliving things in an area and their interactions
habitat provides all the things an organism needs to live
Biotic Factor Living organisms
Abiotic factor nonliving
Population a group of one species living in an area
Community different populations in an area
Niche the role that an organism has in an ecosystem
Carrying Capacity Carrying Capacity
