Primary Circulation | The total number of copies of print media made. |
Secondary Circulation | The number of people who read a publication but do not purchase it. |
Position (Preferred) | The location of an ad on a page, or the time a program runs a commercial. |
Zoning | Dividing an area into zones or different purposes. |
Flat Rates | Everyone is charged the same rate. |
Sliding-Scale Rates | Decreases the costs for a business to use newspaper advertising. |
Combination Rates | Placing an ad in two different newspapers owned by the same company and receiving a discount for it. |
Delivered Circulation | The circulation figure which the publisher bases rates. |
Guaranteed Circulation | Number of copies a publisher expects to circulate |
Bleed Pages | Magazine ad where the printed area extends to the edge of the page. |
Gatefolds | Enables an advertiser to make a striking presentation by having a third page that folds out. |
Spreads | Two pages in a layout that face each other. |
Rating | Percentage of the total potential audience who are exposed to a particular media vehicle. |
Gross Rating Points | A measure of the total amount of the advertising exposures produced by a specific media vehicle or a media schedule during a specific period of time. |
Run-of-schedule air time | Broadcast commercial announcements that can be scheduled at the station's discretion at anytime. |
Cost Per Thousand (CPM) | Cost of reaching one member of the target market. |
Cost Per Gross Rating Point | Dollar cost of advertising exposure to one percentage point of the target market. |
Movable Billboard | An advertising billboard that can be taken to any location. |
Advertising Package | All advertisements proposed to be exhibited on a large development. |
Visibility | Degree of the clearness of the atmosphere/ Distance at which objects can be seen clearly. |
Volume Discount | Lower price for making a large purchase. |
Circulation | Spread or transmission of something to a wider group or area. |
