Homeostasis

| feedback | what tells a furnace to turn on or off |
| organ | a group of tissues working together (heart or brain) |
| homeostasis | maintaining an internal environment within set limits |
| epithelial tissues | sheets of cells that cover surfaces (inside and out!) |
| Connective tissues | anchor organs and muscles within the body |
| anchor organs and muscles withing the body | allow body to move itself and othe rthings (like blood) |
| Nervous tissue | senses stimuli |
| set point | the target value for a system (for human body temperature = 98.6 deg F) |
| stimulus | cues, input that triggers a reaction in the body |
| insulin | helps the glucose in the blood stream get into cells or into the liver |
| glycogon | helps release glucose from the liver back into the bloodstream |
