Food webs and symbiosis

habitat an environment that provides the things a specific organism needs to live, grow and reproduce
abiotic factors non-living parts of an organism's habitat
biotic factors living or once living parts of an organism's habitat
autotroph an organism capable of making its own food from using light or chemical energy
heterotroph an organism that cannot manufacture its own food and obtains energy by feeding on other organisms
food web the pattern of overlapping feeding relationships or food chains in an ecosystem
ecosystem community of organisms that live in a particular area along with their abiotic factors
decomposer an organism that gets energy by breaking down wastes and dead organisms
carnivore a consumer that obtains energy by eating only animals
herbivore a consumer that obtains energy by eating only plants
