Cell membrane Define: Outer boundary Function: Regulates what goes in a cell and out of a cell
Cell wall Provides structure and support
Cytoplasm Define: Liquid interior of cell
Nucleus Compartment that houses the cell's DNA
Mitochondria Harvests energy to make ATP
Ribosomes Makes proteins
Rough endoplasmic reticulum (Rough ER) Transports the proteins that are made by its attached ribosomes
Golgi apparatus Packaging and distribution center for cell
Smooth endoplasmic reticulum (Smooth ER) Making lipids and breaking down toxins (poisons)
Lysosome Contains the cell's digestive enzymes
Flagella/ Cilia Provides movement
Vacuole Stores water
Chloroplast Photosynthesis occurs here. Uses light energy to make carbohydrates from carbon dioxide and water.
