| Population | This is all of the living things of the same kind that live in the same place |
| Environment | This is everything that surrounds a living thing |
| Community | All the populations that live in the same place |
| Ecosystem | The living and nonliving things that interact in an environment |
| Producer | A living thing that makes, or produces its own food. A plant is an example of this |
| Habitat | This is the place where a living thing makes its home |
| Fossil | The remains or mark of a living thing from long ago |
| Food Web | This is a system of overlapping food chains in an ecosystem |
| Consumer | A living thing that eats other organisms |
| Extinct | This means that the plant or animal no longer lives on the Earth. |
| Drought | This is a period of time during which very little rain falls |
| Decomposer | This is a living thing that breaks down waste and dead plant and animal matter |
| Food Chain | The transfer of energy from one living thing to another |
| Adaptation | A trait that helps a living thing survive in its environment |
