what are the characteristics of mammals? warm-blooded, have hair on body, breathe with lungs with muscular diaphragm, give birth to live young, nurse young w/ milk, multiple glands in skin, different teeth for eating, large well developed brains
where did they get their name? from mammary gland, which they feed their young with.
what is a special thing they do with their young? they care and protect them long after birth
what does the fur/hair do? insulates mammals so they can with stand cold better
muscluar/skeletal? inner skeleton, developed muscles, 4 limbs
digestion? developed track, mouth with specialized teeth, stomach, intestines. herbivores eat plants, carnivores eat meat, and omnivores eat both
nervous? highly developed CNS, brain, nervous system, high sensory organs eyes, ears, mouth, nose, touch. able to learn, think and understand
circulation? four chambered heart, many blood vessels that take blood everywhere constantly, warm blooded,
respiration? breathe with lungs and trachea. takes in oxygen, lets out carbon dioxide. have muscular diaphragm
reproduction? sexually, male fertilizes female internally
