where do they live? in water

what are fins for? ultimately, movement. some for balance, others for steering/ propelling
what covers their body? scales
what are the three groups of fish? jawless, bony, and cartilaginous
what do they eat? plants and/or animals. if they have teeth they eat animals/meat
what is their muscular/skeletal system? inner skeleton, 2 sets of fins, pectoral by head and pelvic further down. along the top are two dorsal fins, one is spiny. cauldel fin is the most anterior. anal fin right behind anus. have muscles
what is the tail fin called? caudal fin
what is their nervous system? brain and nervous system. large eyes on either side of head, no eyelids. inner ear. lateral line is just under skin and helps detect motion, vibration, etc.
circulatiory system? cold-blooded, blood, blood vessels, heart. a closed system
respiratory system? breathes with gills located on wither side. swim bladder that fills w/ gases for buoyancy.
how do they reproduce? sexually, external reproduction, female lays eggs then male fertilizes them. some have internal reproduction
what kind of symmetry do they have? bilateral
what is their appearance? darker on their dorsal side and lighter on their ventral side for camouflage. streamlined body for quick swimming.
what is the swim bladder for? it fills with gases for buoyancy
invertebrates or vertebrates? vertebrates
