organelles specialized organs
cytoplasm the part of the cell outside the nucleus
vacuoles & vesicles store materials like water, salts, proteins, and carbs
lysosomes small organelles filled with enzymes; break down lipids, carbs, & proteins into small molecules used by the rest of the cell
cytoskeleton helps the cell maintain its shape and is involved in movement
ribosomes produce protein by following coded instruction that come from DNA
endoplasmic reticulum where lipid components of the cell membrane are assembled
Golgi apparatus modifies, sorts, & packages proteins for storage in the cell or release outside the cell
centrioles help organize cell division
microfilaments made of a protein called actin & support the cell
microtubules made of tubulins & maintain cell shape
