Alliteration | Repetition of consonant sounds, usually at the beginning of words |
Parallelism | Repeating sentence or paragraph structure for emphasis |
Rhetorical Question | A question that does not need to be answered but is intended to get the reader to think. |
Allusion | A reference to something well-known |
Onomatopoeia | When a word's sound imitates its meaning |
Hyperbole | An extreme exaggeration |
Imagery | Writing that uses the five senses |
Symbol | An object that stands for itself and a deeper meaning as well |
Personification | Giving a non-living thing human characteristics |
