Term | Definition |

Prophase | The phase where chromosomes first become visible |
Metaphase | The phase where chromosome line up aloing the equator |
Anaphase | The phase where chromatids separate |
Telophase | The phase where cytokinesis begins |
Chromatids | Two identical threadlike strands of a chromosome |
Mitosis | Division of the cell nucleus |
Meiosis | Cell division that results in two very different cells, each with just half the # of chromosomes from patent cells |
Cytokinesis | Division of cytoplasm |
Spindle | Structure made of fibres that help move chromosomes during mitosis |
Cancer | A disease caused by uncontrollable cell growth |
Cells | Limited in size by their surface areas and volume, Exchange materials across the membrane |
Centrioles | Paired structure that helps to organise the spindle |
The Cell Cycle | Series of events the cell goes through as it grows and divides |
