Genotype set of alleles an organisms contains that codes for a specific trait
Phenotype outward appearance, or physical characteristics, of an organisms based on their specific genes
Genetics study of the inheritance of traits and their variations
Trait distinguishing characteristics which are inherited by an organism
Allele variations of a gene at a specific location on the chromosomes
Homozygous any individual organism that inherits the same allele for a gene from both parents
Heterozygous any individual organisms that inherits different alleles for a gene from each parent
Dominant an allele which will be expressed as a characteristic in an offspring if it is present in any form
Recessive an allele which is only expressed if it is inherited from each parent;
Genome all the genes contained within an organism
Cross the mating of two organisms
Purebred any organisms which is genetically uniform to it's ancestors
