carbohydrate | Class of organic compounds that includes monosaccharides & polysaccharides. Main energy source for body. |
lipid | organic compounds, such as fats, oils, and waxes, that are made of fatty acids and glycerol. Stored energy in body. |
nucleic acid | Biological macromolecule that stores genetic information. DNA & RNA |
protein | An organic compound that is made of one or more chains of amino acids |
monomer | A simple compound whose molecules can join together to form polymers |
polymer | A long molecule consisting of many similar or identical monomers linked together. |
nucleotide | A subunit of nucleic acid formed from a simple sugar, a phosphate group, and a nitrogenous base. |
