TermDefinition
carbohydrate Class of organic compounds that includes monosaccharides & polysaccharides. Main energy source for body.
lipid organic compounds, such as fats, oils, and waxes, that are made of fatty acids and glycerol. Stored energy in body.
nucleic acid Biological macromolecule that stores genetic information. DNA & RNA
protein An organic compound that is made of one or more chains of amino acids
monomer A simple compound whose molecules can join together to form polymers
polymer A long molecule consisting of many similar or identical monomers linked together.
nucleotide A subunit of nucleic acid formed from a simple sugar, a phosphate group, and a nitrogenous base.
