biological molecules chemical compounds that provide physical structure and that bring movement
metabolism the sum of all the chemical reactions that take place and transforms materials in an environment
domains the three major subdivisions of organisms (bacteria, archea, and eukarya)
kingdoms the system of grouping that divides life into six groups and is inside domains
ecology the branch of biology that studies organisms interacting with each other in the environment
ecosystems communities of living species and their physical environments
evolution how organisms change over time
natural selection animals with favorable traits I've longer than others with less favorable traits
adaptations traits that improve an individuals ability to survive
metric system the single and standard unit of measurement for scientists
base units the seven fundamental units that describe quantities such as length, mass, and time
