| omnivore | eats either plants or animals to get energy |
| producer | creates its own food through photosynthesis |
| autotroph | another term for a producer/plant |
| heterotroph | another term for a consumer |
| decomposers | get nutrients by breaking down dead organisms or waste |
| Energy pyramid | shows how energy is lost at each trophic level |
| trophic level | a step in the food chain |
| Food chain | A single pathway of food energy |
| Food web | Shows many feeding relationships in an ecosystem |
| sunlight | the source of energy for most food webs |
