TermDefinition
Nonfiction Writing that has real facts and for information.
Fiction Writing that fake and for entertainment.
Novel A book that is long with chapters.
Narrative A spoken or written account of connected events.
Summary A statement about the main idea of the book.
Plot The events in a story.
Exposition The background info at the beginning.
Rising Action The parts that lead up to the climax.
Climax The turning point in a story.
Falling Action The results of the climax.
Resolution The end of a story.
Theme The main idea.
Setting Where the story takes place.
Dynamic The character that changes in a story.
Static The character that stays the same in a story.
Indirect The writer reveals info about the character
Direct The writer tell us what the character is like
Mood The feeling of the story
Tone The author's attitude
Author's Purpose The goal the author aimed
Allusion A reference to a person
Fact Information
Opinion A belief
Irony Difference between what you believe and what is real
Foreshadowing Early clues about what will happen later in the story
