| Narrative | A spoken or written account of connected events. |

| Exposition | The background info at the beginning. |
| Rising Action | The parts that lead up to the climax. |
| Climax | The turning point in a story. |
| Falling Action | The results of the climax. |
| Resolution | The end of a story. |
| Theme | The main idea. |
| Setting | Where the story takes place. |
| Dynamic | The character that changes in a story. |
| Static | The character that stays the same in a story. |
| Indirect | The writer reveals info about the character |
| Direct | The writer tell us what the character is like |
| Mood | The feeling of the story |
| Tone | The author's attitude |
| Author's Purpose | The goal the author aimed |
| Allusion | A reference to a person |
| Fact | Information |
| Opinion | A belief |
| Irony | Difference between what you believe and what is real |
| Foreshadowing | Early clues about what will happen later in the story |
