Muscular Vocab

muscle main organ of the muscular system
relax when a muscle stops pulling in
contract when a muscle pulls in
smooth type of muscle found in blood vessels and the digestive tract
skeletal type of muscle attached to the skeleton and is used for movement of the body
cardiac type of muscle found in the heart; it never gets tired
voluntary type of muscle that you can control (mostly the skeletal)
involuntary Type of muscle that works without you thinking about it (cardiac and smooth)
tendon connective tissue, like an elastic band, that connects a muscle to a bone
mitochondria cell organelle that burns sugars into energy. There are high amounts of these in muscle cells
