consumer an organism that gets its energy by eating other organisms
decomposer an organism that gets energy and nutrients by breaking down the remains of others organisms
food chain the path of energy transfer from producers to consumers
food web a model of the feeding relationships between many different consumers and producers in an ecosystem
energy pyramid a model that shows the amount of energy available at each feeding level of an ecosystem
herbivore a consumer that eats only plants
carnivore an animal that eats other animals
omnivore an organism that eats both plants and animals
