What is the function of the mouth? Chews and mash food into smaller pieces and also breaks down food using enzymes and saliva.
What is the function of the esophagus? It moves partially digested food to the stomach. Uses the peristalsis and the epiglottis.
What is the function of the stomach? It breaks down food by churning it and using acidic juices to chemically break it down.
What is the function of the small intestine? It absorbs nutrients from the food
What is the function of the large intestine? It takes nutrients from the food so waste can be disposed of. Also takes out water using villi.
What is the function of the rectum? It holds waste.
What is the function of the anus? Lets waste leave the body.
