Banking terms

TermDefinition
Credit Card A card that allows a person to buy something now and pay for it later.
Budget A plan for money.
Interest Money that a bank pays you for keeping your money in the bank.
Safe-deposit box A secure box at the bank for keeping special items.
Deposit Money put into a bank account.
Withdrawal Money taken out of a bank account.
Balance The amount of money left in an account after the withdrawals are subtracted from the deposits.
Fee Money charged for a service.
Minimum Balance The smallest amount of money a person can keep in a bank account without having to pay a fee.
Savings Account Money that earns interest in a bank.
Deposit Slip a slip of paper you fill out to show how much money you are putting into a bank account.
Withdrawal Slip a slip of paper you fill out to show how much you are taking out of a bank account.
Check Register a booklet in a checkbook to keep track of checks and deposits.
ATM (Automated Teller Machine) a machine that lets you put money into a bank account or take money out.
PIN (Personal Identification Number) a code that lets your ATM card work.
