How Animals Live

TermDefinition
nymph a stage in an insect life cycle between egg and adult that looks like an adult but has no wings.
amphibian an animal with a backbone that lives part of its life cycle in water and part on land.
tadpole a very young frog or toad
gills the parts of fish and tadpoles that are used to take in oxygen from water.
embryo a developing animal before it is born.
larva a young animal that has a different shape than the adult.
pupa the stage in the insect life cycle between larva and adult.
mammal an animal with a backbone and hair or fur; mothers produce milk for their babies.
instinct an action that an animal can do without learning.
