What are the elements of design? Line, shape, texture, color, and space.
What are the principles of design? Emphasis, proportion, balance, harmony/unity, and rhythm.
What is the principle repetition? Design is copied or repeated.
How does texture affect color? Smoother textures reflect light and make the colors look brighter while rough textures absorb light and makes the colors look dull.
What do curved lines suggest? Comfort and naturalness.
What is the difference between horizontal, vertical, and radial balance? its either means it is balance out horizontally, vertically, or radially.
What do diagonal lines suggest? Movement and activity.
What is space? Any place with furnishing and has elements or pricipals of design
What are the four types of rhythm? Gradation, radiation, repetition, and a continuous line.
What is asymmetrical balance? Example? When the objects are different shapes and sizes but they balance each other out, one large picture frame on one side and a cuple small picture frames on the on the other side.
What is the difference between horizontal and vertical lines? Horizontal is left to right and vertical is up and down.
What is the golden mean? The perfect middle of two extremes.
What is the difference between shape and form? Shape is 2-D and form is 3-D.
What are the five types of balance? Symmetrical, asymmetrical, horizontal, vertical, and radial.
What does unity or harmony mean? All elements and principals of design work together.
What are the two things texture involves? How a surface feels when you touch it and how a surface looks like it feels.
What are the four types of line? Horizontal, vertical, diagonal, and curved.
What is proportion? How a design is visually divided.
Which of the five types of balance suggests excitement or interest? Asymmetrical, vertical, and radial.
What is symmetrical balance? Example? When both sides are identical, butterfly.
What is emphasis? What is another name for it? One object stands out, focal point.
What happens when you use a continuous line? The eye follows it.
What is another name for symmetrical balance? Formal balance.
What is another name for asymmetrical balance? Informal balance.
What is the difference between gradation and radiation? Gradation is when design increases or decreases in size and when only one element of design changes. Radiation is when lines or designs move out from a center point.
