What are the principles of design? The principles of design describe the ways that artists use the elements of art in a work of art. Balance is the distribution of the visual weight of objects, colors, texture, and space. ... Movement
What is the principle repetition? Repetition refers to one object or shape repeated; pattern is a combination of elements or shapes repeated in a recurring and regular arrangement; rhythm--is a combination of elements repeated, but with variations.
How does texture affect color? Texture, glossiness, and other surface conditions influence how the color of an object will appear. When sandpaper is applied to the surface of a smooth plastic plate, for example, the color will appear duller.
What do curved lines suggest? Curved lines express fluid movement. They can be calm or dynamic depending on how much they curve. The less active the curve the calmer the feeling.
What is the difference between horizontal, vertical, and radial balance? hoizontal lines make the room feel bigger, verticle lines make the room wider and radial balance is any type of balance.
What do diagonal lines suggest? lots of movement
What is space? any type of room.
What are the four types of rhythm? gradation radiation lines repetition continuous lines
What is asymmetrical balance? Example? , both sides are exactly the same, and balanced in that way. In asymmetrical balance, the two sides are not identical, but differ from one another. room with pot and picture fame on opposite sides of a table
What is the difference between horizontal and vertical lines Horizontal lines are parallel to the horizon or parallel to level ground. They have a slope of zero and are parallel to the x-axis on a graph. Vertical lines are perpendicular to the horizon, parallel to the y-axis on a graph and have undefined slope.
What is the golden mean? 3 to 5 ratio
What is the difference between shape and form? Shape refers to the two dimensional artworks like paintings. Form refers to three dimensional artworks like sculptures. Shape or form is a concept often used in interior design as well.
What are the five types of balance? asymmetrical vertical horizontal radial formal
What does unity or harmony mean? Definition of Unity: occurs when all of the elements of a piece combine to make a balanced, harmonious, complete whole.
What are the two things texture involves? Tactile and visual.
What are the four types of line? curved diagonal horizontal vertical
What is proportion? a part, share, or number considered in comparative relation to a whole.
Which of the five types of balance suggests excitement or interest? radial
What is symmetrical balance? Example? symmetrical balance is have the room split up and everything is the same on each side
What is emphasis? What is another name for it? emphasis is when you have one oject that is the mane thing for that room ,standing out
What happens when you use a continuous line? when you use a continuous line the design creates a continuous line for the eye to follow
What is another name for symmetrical balance? formal balance
What is another name for asymmetrical balance? informal balance
What is the difference between gradation and radiation? gradation is when you have an element increase in size or shrink,radiation is when the design moves from a center point
