Nose It's your first line of defense. The mucous in here helps prevent disease.
Sinus cavity It equalizes the pressure in your pulmonary system.
Pulmonary Relating to the lungs
Throat Tempers the air temperature before it enters the lungs (so it's not too hot or cold)
Trachea Keeps your wind pipe open using cartilage rings.
Lobes of the lung Evolutionary defense in case part of your lung collapses.
Diaphragm A smooth muscle that divides your thoracic cavity from the rest of your body and keeps this area from collapsing.
Respiratory system The system that allows us to breathe.
