Unicellular organisms One cell
Multicellular organisms More than one cell
Producers (Autotrophs) an organism that makes its own organic molecules from inorganic compounds
Consumers (Heterotrophs) an organism that cannot produce its own food and must feed on other organisms
Decomposers an organism that obtains energy by chemically breaking down the products, wastes, or remains of other organisms.
Adaptive Traits A trait with a current functional role in life of an organism that is maintained and evolved by means of natural selection
Taxaonomy Living things that are classified according to their characteristics
Variables Factors that might vary during an experiment
Control group Standard for comparison (against experimental group) usually gets placebo
Experimental group Tests the controlled variable - the one of interest
