Integumentary System is any surface covering for the body.(skin, hair, nails)
Epidermis thin outer layer of constantly replaced dead cells. Is the body’s barrier to the outside world.
Dermis thicker inner layer of skin that contains many structures
Skin Largest organ in body. It protection from environment & germs and regulates body temperature.
Sweat Glands excretes waste & cools body
Sebaceous Glands produces oil on your skin to keep it healthy
Hair Follicle The area where the hair grows out of the skin
Nerves send signals to the brain, letting it know what you’re touching or is touching you. You can sense pain, pressure, hot, and cold.
Melanin the pigment that gives your skin its color
Melanoma a dangerous skin cancer that could be fatal if allowed to spread to other organs.
