Color Terms

What is a monochromatic color scheme? A color scheme that is made up of tints and shades of one color.
What is an analogous color scheme? A color scheme that is made up of three or more colors that are all next to each other on the color wheel.
What is an accented neutral color scheme? A color scheme that is made up of all neutrals with a little bit of one color.
What color scheme is 2 colors opposite on the color wheel? Complementary color scheme.
How many colors in a split complementary color scheme? Three colors.
Name the Primary colors. Red, yellow, and blue.
Name the secondary colors. Violet, orange, and green.
What is the value of a color? How light or dark the color is.
What is the intensity of a color mean? How bright or dull the color is.
What is the hue? Hue refers to the color itself.
How do you make a tint? You have to take a saturated color and mix it with pure white color.
How do you make a shade? You have to take a saturated color and mix it with pure black color.
What are the warm colors? Red, orange, and yellow.
What are the cool colors? Blue, green, and violet.
What are the neutral colors? Black, grey, white, brown and tan.
What is unique about the primary colors? You cannot achieve the primary colors by mixing any other colors together.
Name 3 tertiary colors. Red-violet, red-orange, and yellow-orange.
What is the proper way to name a tertiary color? The primary color comes first and the secondary color comes second, with a dash in the middle.
What is another name for a tertiary color? An intermediate color.
What is a triadic color scheme? A color scheme that is made up of three colors that are located within equal distance of each other.
