Aerobic respiration A type of respiration when oxygen is taken in and carbon dioxide and water are produced, also the process oxygen uses to breakdown foodstuff to energy.
Antibiotic Group of chemical substances which are produced by microorganisms and fungi that are used to treat infectious disease.
Antiseptic A substance that prevents the growth of disease causing microorganisms.
Binary fission A type of asexual reproduction, mostly common in prokaryotes and sometimes in single-celled eukaryotes.
Classification The process of classifying something on their shared abilities and traits.
Conjugation The formation or existence of a link connection between things, that are the same.
Disinfectant A chemical liquid that destroys bacteria.
Ecological role The position in the branch of biology dealing with the relations and interactions between organisms and their environment.
Fermentation Chemical breakdown of a substance by bacteria typically involving the giving off of heat.
Motility The ability of organisms and fluid to move around.
Mutate/mutation To change or alter form or how something acts.
Photosynthesis A process that plants use to turn sunlight into energy for the organism or plant.
Prokaryote Any organism that does not have cellular membrane and no organelles in the cytoplasm.
Resistant/resistance The power of forcing against, opposing or withstanding.
