Female Reproduction Practice

TermDefinition
Ovary Two glands that produce estrogen and progesterone. They also produce and store eggs.
Egg Female reproductive cell
Fallopian Tube Passageway for the egg from the ovary to the uterus
Uterus A hollow, pear shaped organ with a muscular wall where a fetus, or baby, grows.
Cervix The lower part of the uterus that opens into the vagina.
Vagina A muscular tube that connects the uterus with the outside of the body.
Endometrium The lining of the uterus that nourishes a developing embryo.
Menstruation The process of an unfertilized egg and the blood and tissues from the endometrium leaving the body.
Ovulation Release of an egg from the ovary.
