DNA and GENES

TermDefinition
nucleotides small unit that make up DNA.
double helix model in which 2 strands of DNA wind around like a twisted latter
base pairing rules the base of the 2 DNA strands
replication DNA is copied during the cell cycle
DNA polymerases bond the new nucleotides together
central dodma molecular biology, which states the information flows in one direction
RNA is a chain of nucleotides, each made of sugar, a phosphate group, aand a nitrogen - containing base
transcription is the process of copying a sequence
RNA polymerases enzymes that bod nucleotides together in a chain to make a new molecule
Messenger RNA is an intermediate message that is translated to form a protein
Ribosomal RNA forms part of ribosomes, a cells protein factories
Transfer RNA brings amino acids from the cytoplasm to a ribosome to help make the growing protein
Translation is the process that coverts , or translate, an mRNA message into a polypeptide
Stop Condons signal the end of the amino acid chain
Start Condon which signals the start of translation and the amino acid methionine
anticondon is a set of three nucleotides that is complmentary to an mRNA condon
