Terms from the Female Reproduction System

Cervix The lower part of the uterus that connects to the vagina
Ovary Two glands that produce estrogen and eggs
Endometrium Blood filled tissue that lines the uterus and nourishes a developing embryo. This is discharged during menstruation.
Ovulation Release of an egg from the ovary
Vagina A muscular tube that connects the uterus with the outside of the body
Menstruation The process of an unfertilized egg and the endometrium leaving the body
Fallopian Tube Passageway for the egg from the ovary to the uterus
Egg/Ovum Female reproductive cell
Uterus Muscular organ that receives and supports a fertilized egg
Estrogen Female reproductive hormone produced by the ovaries
Progesterone Female reproductive hormone produced by the ovaries
Fertilization When one female egg cell and one male sperm cell unite
