turns as the machine goes. by turning the wheel TOWARDS you. you can raise and lower the needle to place it exactly where you want. hand wheel
this turns the machine on and off on/off switch
use this lever to sew backwards reverse control
adjust this to set the length of your stitch stitch length selector
adjust this dial to change your straight stitch to a zig zag stitch stitch width selector
controls the amount of pressure on your thread as it passes through your machine. you shouldn't normally have to adjust this tension control
these guides lead your thread from the spool all the way to the needle thread guides
this lever helps to keep the tension on the thread. we can also look at this to see if our needle is up or down when we want to stop or start thread take-up
holds the bobbin, and the bobbin holds the bottom thread bobbin case
works with the feed dog to hold the fabric and move it through the machine. come in different shapes for different jobs (normally J) presser foot
lever raises and lowers the presser foot. raise it to insert your fabric. lower it when ready to sew. presser foot lifter
the feed dog teeth and presser foot work together to move the fabric along. feed dog
holds your spool of thread, when you are winding or sewing a bobbin spool holder
used to wind thread on a bobbin from your spool thread bobbin winder
