This is the vocabulary for Evolution and Natural Selection

Adaptation The changes an organism makes to better survive
Nutrient Food or substance that is required for homeostasis
Behavior The reaction of an organism to its surrounding environment
Fossil The remains or imprints of a once-living organism
Ecosystem All the living and non-living things in an area working together
Fossil Record What provides information about life on Earth and its change over time
Environment The living and non-living things an organism interacts with
Characteristic A distinguishing trait of an individual organism
Variation Natural differences in traits within members of a species
Artificial Selection The process in which organisms are CHOSEN to produce offspring based on genotype and phenotype
Natural Selection The process in which organisms that have desirable traits successfully produce offspring
Evolution The process in which populations gradually change over time
Endangered Species A species whose numbers are so small that they're at risk for extinction
Extinction The death of an entire species
Theory A well-supported, evidence-based explanation of WHY things happen in nature
Law A evidence-based explanation of HOW the physical behavior of the universe works.
