Mitosis

Stages of Mitosis

TermDefinition
Interphase Cell grows and DNA and organelles are copied.
Prophase Nucleus disappears and the chromatin forms chromosomes, the centrioles move to opposite poles.
Metaphase Chromosomes line up at the equator and attache to the spindle fibers.
Anaphase Chromosomes are pulled apart by the centrioles.
Telophase Two new nuclei are formed and the cleavage furrow begins to pinch the cell membrane into two cells.
Cytokinesis Two identical daughter cells are formed.
