Organization of life (cell - organism)
| Term | Definition |

| molecule | a group of atoms that are held together by chemical forces |
| organelle | one of the small bodies that are found in the cytoplasm of a cell and that are specialized to perform a specific function (ex. mitochondria, vacuole, nucleus) |
| cell | the smallest unit that can perform all life processes |
| tissue | a group of similar cells that perform a common function |
| organ | a collection of tissues that carry out a specialized function of the body |
| organ system | two or more organs that work in a coordinated way to carry out similar functions |
| organism | a living thing; anything that can carry out life processes independently |
| microorganism | a microscopic organism, especially a bacterium, virus, or fungus |
