| Irritability | The life function of responding to the environment. |
| Reproduction | The life function where an organism makes more of it's own kind. |
| Growth | In unicellular organisms, this life function means replacing worn out cell parts; in multicellular organisms, it means getting larger in size. |
| Urinary system | The system in multicellular organisms that gets rid of liquid waste. |
| Endocrine system | Works with the reproductive system in multicellular organisms to perform reproduction. |
