Cell Transport
This study stack was made to help you study active and passive cell transport.
| Question | Answer |
|---|---|
| Equilibrium | The state reached when molecules are evenly distributed throughout an area |
| Concentration gradient | The difference in the number of molecules from one area to another |
| Semi-permeable membrane | Some materials will go through it; some won't. |
| Impermeable membrane | Materials will not go through it. |
| Permeable membrane | Materials will go through it. |
| Active transport | The movement of materials across a membrane that requires energy. |
| Passive transport | The movement of materials across a membrane that does not require energy |
| Diffusion | The random movement of molecules throughout an area that does not require energy. |
| Osmosis | The diffusion of water across a membrane from an area of high concentration to a low concentration |
| Facilitated diffusion | Type of passive transport that uses a transport protein to move large molecules from a high concentration to a low concentration |
| Ion pump | A type of active transport that uses a transport protein and ATP energy to pump materials from a low concentration to a high concentration |
| Endocytosis | A process of using a vesicle to bring materials into the cell |
| Exocytosis | A process of using a vesicle to release materials from the cell |
| Exocytosis is what type of cell transport? Active or Passive? | Active |
| Endocytosis is what type of cell transport? Active or Passive? | Active |
| Ion Pump is what type of cell transport? Active or Passive? | Active |
| Diffusion is what type of cell transport? Active or Passive? | Passive |
| Osmosis is what type of cell transport? Active or Passive? | Passive |
| Facilitated Diffusion is what type of cell transport? Active or Passive? | Passive |
