| Recessive Trait | one that is seen only if both parents give the allele for the trait |
| Punnett Square | a model used to predict the possible combinations of inherited traits |
| inherited Traits | traits that are expressed through genes and can be passed from parent to offspring |
| Acquired Traits | characteristics that are gained from environmental influences, injuries, or practiced skills (learned) and are not inherited |
