Chromosomes Structure made of DNA and protein which can be inherited
Diploid cell Cell containing two copies of each chromosome
Haploid cell Cell containing one copy of each chromosome

interphase Time when cell is not dividing
Mitosis Form of cell division which produces two cells that are genetically identical to the parent cell
Meiosis Form of cell division which produces four cells which are not identical to the parent cell and have only half the genetic information
Centromere Region where chromatid pairs are joined together
Cancer Abnormal and uncontrolled growth of cells by mitosis
Carcinogen Environmental factor that causes DNA to mutate
