Karyotypes

TermDefinition
karyotype an image of all the chromosomes in a cell
autosome any chromosome that is not a sex chromosome
sex chromosome chromosomes that determine the sex of an organism (X or Y)
homologous chromosomes chromosomes that have the same length, appearance, and copies of genes
gamete a haploid reproductive cell (egg or sperm)
somatic cell cell that makes up all of the body tissues and organs except gametes
