Cell Processes

Processes that cells go through to keep organisms alive and healthy

Active Transport uses energy to move substances
Diffusion substance moves from where there's lots to where there's less
Fermentation happens instead of respiration when not enough oxygen
Impermeable substances can't move through membrane; barrier
Mitosis cell nucleus divides and forms two new identical cells
Osmosis special kind of diffusion through a membrane
Passive Transport doesn't use energy, substance moves freely
Permeable substances move freely through membrane
Photosynthesis plant process using light energy, water, and CO2 to make sugar (glucose) and oxygen
Respiration reverse of photosynthesis; uses sugar and oxygen to release energy, water, and CO2; in plants and animals
Selectively Permeable some substances can move through membrane, others cannot
