| alliteration | It is a stylistic device in which a number of words, having the same first consonant sound, occur close together in a series. |
| simile | A comparison using "like" or "as" |
| metaphore | Compares 2 things as if they were the same without the words "like" or "as" |
| allusion | A brief and indirect reference to a person, place, thing or idea of historical, cultural, literary or political significance. |
| assonance | Repetition of vowel sounds |
| stanza | A group of lines in a poem |
| verse | writing arranged with a metrical rhythm, typically having a rhyme |
| sonnet | 14 line poem in iambic pentameter |
| haiku | A japanese form of poetry, consisting of three unrhymed lines of five, seven, and five syllables |
| elegy | a sorrowful poem or speech |
