Mead Middle Skeletal and Muscular Systems
| Term | Definition |
|---|---|
| Bone | Living tissue made of phosphate, calcium, bone cells, and bone marrow |
| Tendon | Connects muscle to bone |
| Ligament | Connects bone to bone |
| Bone Marrow | Inside bones where blood cells are made |
| Skeletal Muscles | Muscles that move bones - these are voluntary (move when you think about making them move) |
| Smooth Muscles | Muscles that control internal organs, such as the small and large intestines and blood vessels - these are involuntary (they work automatically, you do NOT have to think about them) |
| Cardiac Muscles | These muscles work to pump the heart - these are involuntary (they work automatically, you do NOT have to think about them) |
| Joint | Where 2 bones come together and can move |
