Producer/ autotroph A plant that makes its own food from the sun
Consumer/ heterotroph An animal that eats a autotroph to get energy and to survive
Decomposer An animal that breaks down nutrients in the soil
Herbivore An animal that only eats plants
Carnivore An animal that only eats meat
Omnivore An animal that eats both plants and animals
Scavenger An animal that feeds on dead plants or animals
Food chain A series of living things that show one food source to the other
Food web A series of food chains
Sun's role in food chain/ web The sun's role is to provide the autotrophs with food, which supplies all the rest of the animals with food because, the heterotrophs eat the autotrophs
Energy pyramid Shows the amount of energy passed onto the different levels
Symbiosis An interaction between two different organisms
Mutualism An interaction between two organisms in which both benefit from
Commensalism An interaction between two organisms in which one benefits and one is neither benefited or harmed
Parasitism An interaction between two organisms in which one is benefited and one is harmed
Predator/ prey A prey is an animal that is being hunted A predator is an animal that is hunting another animal
Competition Where organisms compete for a certain thing
Adaptation A character trait that a animal or plant has to survive in a particular area
